That is sage advice.
My upgrade process went well, but I have had problems with many things.
The Unity thingy is quite buggy. And I really dislike the horrible UI
that moves menus (only for some things!) up to the
We-Wish-we-were-apple-title-bar and HIDES it when your mouse isn't on it.
The "more fullscreen-ness" of it is kind of nice, but not that great.
So I switched back to regular gnome.
I've had issues with regular gnome sometimes where the applets fail to
load, say right after a reboot. I told gnome not to remove it from the
config, rebooted, and that one that failed worked, but then three more
bombed. Rebooted again and everything was fine. All my applets were
there and functioning.
I'm running it on a Dell Latitude e6410 Intel integrated graphics. I
needed Ubuntu 11.04 because 10.10 had an issue with the Core i5 and the
Turbo graphics stuff it offers. Mainly that it wouldn't work at all.
Other than that, and forcing firefox 4 on me (Some of my extensions
don't work, and it's nigh impossible to downgrade to firefox 3), it's
not too bad.
Holding off on updating would probably give it more soak time to work
out the kinks, as there feels to be lots of them.
