The idea is to be less visible to simple port scans. This does nothing
to block LEO access to your traffic from inside your ISP, or prevent
eavesdropping at public wifi spots, but it helps otherwise.

Whitelisting valid addresses is probably the cheapest insurance. Use a
dynamic IP service to put a name to your current location. Most VPN
software should accept this instead of allowing connections from
