"sequential writes" issue in a nutshell :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/345191/is-it-possible-to-burn-to-multiple-cds-at-once-with-a-gui
other issues :
http://superuser.com/questions/158805/burning-mutiple-discs-at-the-same-time

Hence the one burner per machine, use a server type application

Of course, there's always the hardware version/way:

Linux "GUI" applications allowing multiple burns (no pun intended):

$$ Nero
$$ Roxio

burneronfire : http://www.kiberpipa.org/burneronfire/
burneronfire gui :
http://www.kiberpipa.org/burneronfire/#graphical-interface
Note: Brasero will allow one to specify the device to use on the command
line.
So having a script that opens up a Brasero for each cd/dvd burner via
--device
Brasero does asyncronous writes! So technically could use brasero command
line
as a back end to burneronfire gui

qmultirecord :

dupiso (2002) : http://dupiso.sourceforge.net/
