Steve you are bad ....... Forgive him Nathan .... I had to switch my 7 box to Win 10 and I probably spend more time when I use it for continual updates that the defrag is costing you. 
Is the disk getting full? May be the space available to copy to is small and it has to do the file defrag in multiple attempts. 
Just for grins I have found the Mac OSX a nice compromise to Windows and Linux, unix based but everything just works and with VirtualBox and VMware Fusion I can have both Win10 and CentOS 7 running in a virtual while allowing OSX do my daily BS.

Up until a few weeks ago when I would run the Win 7 Disk Defragmenter program it would take 6 or 7 passes to complete. It now takes 35 to 50 passes to complete. Anyone else notice this?
